Unmanned exhibitions

Unmanned Exhibitions (Libraries, Universities, etc)

Venues
Possible places for an exhibition: Libraries, Universities, Foyers, etc.
Google the desired venue, e.g. library and the name of local town, (libraries are also on
local authority website, or visit your own library - should have list of branches).
Book your space – choose a popular spot inside the building, go see the manager taking with you letter, DVD, etc. (Popular question: Is it a religion, a political movement or a cult. To which the answer is ‘No. It is an Educational Charity’) There is an official EV letter which you can get by writing to gettingsupport@hotmail.co.uk .

Allow for and ask for a slot of time e.g. one or two weeks. You may have to wait for your slot

What you might need
Three art boards (Approximately 60cm wide X 90 cm high (alt. sizes available)
One Display Stand with three panels, to mount the boards on. (Libraries could provide display stands if asked)
One plastic holder for the give –away DVD’s
A packet of ‘stick-on Velcro’, to fix the boards onto the display panel available from art shops
Stock of give away DVDs
Stock of written material
Local contact nos if desired for follow up

First things first
Form a core planning team of 2-3 people to take responsibility for the planning of the project
Agree on goals: e.g. nos of DVDs give away, then you can match against results

Costings
Best to cost in advance then put costs to finance person/local community if need be – but could be low cost e.g. most libraries provide the facilities at no charge to charities

People
At very least two people are needed to set up and maintain an unmanned display ( like DVD stands it will need topping up regularly) If time, the project manager could ask for volunteers via SAM ( you will need at least 1 months notice)

Timings
Best to check out if clashes or complements with anything major ( e.g. events with Maharaji, local football match). You might want it to coincide with a local public event or ad in magazine.
