Local DVD Events

In our area it was decided to start having DVD events again after a very long break. We thought about what we would need to do to start them up again and first was finding a room that was not going to be prohibitively expensive. As we are only a small group of people, we needed a hall that would not swamp our small group size-wise plus, it needed to be a price that we could manage to pay from our contributions. We looked around our town and went with a community centre that was fairly central to us all and fortunately, had a car park within walking distance.

Next, what would we show at these events? Here, the eurcom shop has really come into its own. They offer a subscription so that people can obtain the latest DVD’s of Maharaji talking at very recent events. The new subscription has just started and the very first offering is Maharaji’s event in San Diego for his 50th birthday!! Great for those of us unable to go to all the events that Maharaji does around the world.

So we had our hall and we had stuff to show. One person took on the service of bringing a TV and someone else brought a DVD player so we could play the DVD! We rang everyone that lived in our area and anyone that we didn’t have contact details for, we asked others if they were in contact with them. Now, I email and text people to remind them about upcoming events.

We get together twice a month. We have the Keys library, (a chance for service, if someone wants it- contact gettingsupport@hotmail.co.uk to get help in setting up a Keys librarian ) which gives people the opportunity to watch the Keys for themselves. There is an information table where people can learn about any special events, propagation ideas, etc. plus they are able to take away the free DVD’s for propagation. Just to vary the ambience, we have tea and biscuits once each month so people have the chance to talk with each other, rather than the usual ‘in, watch DVD, and then out’. People have said they like the friendly feeling that you get with sharing tea and biscuits.

The money that is collected from contributions goes towards paying for the centre and what is left over we have used to either cover other outreach events in our area or it goes towards the local area bank balance.
